If you are someone who has recently gotten braces, or maybe you’re considering braces, then you probably know the downsides to orthodontic treatment. Many people end up wanting to avoid braces because of how long the treatment takes. If your treatment takes around two years, that’s a lot of visits to the orthodontist. Here at Rollins & Petersen Orthodontics, we’re proud to offer accelerated orthodontics with the Propel® system. Below is more information on this treatment, or you can contact one of our offices in Mesa, Globe, Gilbert, Chandler, or Queen Creek to schedule your consultation!
How Does Propel® Work?
Accelerated orthodontics may sound too good to be true, but Propel® offers you the benefits of quick and relatively painless orthodontic treatment. Once you have your brackets and wires put on for your braces, you can visit our office for a Propel® treatment that only takes minutes.
Accelerated orthodontics makes use of Alveocentesis™, a process that stimulates bone production in the jaw. This bone remodeling allows your teeth to shift more easily, and then once they’re in place the bone holds them steady.
The treatment itself can be performed in one of our offices and there is no downtime afterward. Propel® is a micro-invasive treatment, and it can be used to speed up virtually any orthodontic treatment.
The Benefits
Aside from accelerated orthodontics as we mentioned above, Propel® comes with a few other benefits. Most patients experience less pain during their orthodontic treatment, thanks to Propel®. This device allows the teeth to shift more quickly, which means the discomfort you would normally feel is lessened.
Accelerated treatment time also means you won’t experience many of the negative side effects that occur when braces are removed. Staining is common, as well as cavities and gum inflammation. With accelerated orthodontics, a shorter treatment time means less time your teeth with have to become stained, develop cavities, or cause issues with your gums.
There are a few other devices out there that claim to have the same benefits as Propel®, but Propel® has one distinct advantage. Most of its competitors treat the entire mouth at once, which can lead to loose teeth at the end of your orthodontic treatment, as well as uneven results. Propel® is able to treat one quadrant or even one tooth at a time, so you can be sure your results will be even and you won’t have to worry about loose teeth when you get your braces off.
